Oftentimes, I’ve heard someone say that it’s okay for a Christian to have pre-marital sex. I’ve heard all kinds of reasons and justifications for why it’s okay and/or permissible. And believe me, I’ve heard some really, really, REALLY good ones.
One recent example comes to mind when a Christian stated that it was okay to have (and enjoy) pre-marital sex and how great it is to then lay in bed afterwards – with the partner - and read the Bible. The rational was that we are God’s children and He wants us to enjoy ALL things.
Hhhmm. This clearly was a “Did God say moment!”
Yes, we are God’s children; and, yes, He does want us to enjoy ALL things. But God would not contradict His Word. His Word calls us to walk holy and set apart. Therefore, being sexually active outside of marriage
would contradict His Word on holiness.
But even if one could still find a way to rationalize being sexually active – the test then becomes – did Jesus walk around being sexually active? After all He modeled what we should be striving toward in every area.
It’s tough, it’s not easy but it’s doable or He wouldn’t have called us to walk holy. The key is to put the Word to the test – just do it!
And you’ll find that as soon as you make the decision to keep His Word – then His grace shows up to enable you to live it out!
